go, do it!

out of your own comfort zone and routine it's always hard to keep balanced and to fit a little time for  oneself...

my kids and I are out of our "comfort zone" for 6 weeks this summer. that's quite a while, and although my girls are pretty flexible and easy going about where and when they sleep, it sure sometimes kicks in that it's not their bed, the wrong soft toy or just not the food we're used to...

as I said this moments are rare with my girls, but what I need then is my own balance to reassure things are fine and yes, you/we can do it (as I am probably the one who misses her own bed the most!)

so, guess what I am doing to keep my energy up and balace myself between it all!? yes, it's all about keeping my yoga practise up as much as I can...the main challenge here, to fit it in without annoying the people around me...as you might guess, not everyone around understands what 10 min on the mat mean to me...and to some of my students, who are travelling around the world and face the same challenge right now!

so here is a little sequence, that just feels good, gives you strength and energy. it takes about 30min, but can be split and stortened of course!

deep abdominal breathing - 5 to 10 breath in seated posture or Savasana

surya namaskar (chose your style, but make it feel GOOD - remember you want to gain energy, not lose it!) - 4 to 8 rounds, or as long as it feels good!

inversion of your choice:
Sirshasana
Sarvangasana
no matter what, remember - ENJOY, for 5 to 10 breath!

warrior power:
Virabhadrasana I
Virabhadrasana II (move into Utthita Parsvakonasana)
Virbhadrasana III
release into Pada Hasthasana, roll back up to standing
hold each pose for 5 deep breath, moving through all postures on one side and then the other!

5 to 10min in Savasana!

as mentioned before, depending on the time you have... do only breathing or a few rounds (or even just one round) of surya namaskar... feel free to simply put your legs up the wall or do your favorite warrior pose to ground yourself and feel your strength! don't forget that sometimes you might need a few breath in Savasana as well, especially when travelling around a lot.
and when there is no place to go or really not even 5min left, go to the bathroom and take a few conscious breath there - believe me, it works!

now go, do it and if you like, let me know how it went :-)
