A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

my latest "love"
on our last Vienna trip I picked up a cook book I was looking at for a long time already.
and yes, I fell in love with it and definitely want to get more of Heidi Swansons books! it's also a lot more than just a cook book. it gets you in touch with flours, grains...that you (at least I) would never have thought of.
my only problem is that I can't get lots of ingredients here, but there is always a way to adjust and we're not going to be here forever ;-)
unfortunately I didn't have much time to make a lot of things yet, but tried the "Clemenquat Salat, with Walnuts and Parmesan Shaving" right away and it was delicious and eaten fast, that I almost forgot to take a picture :-)
if you want to find out more about Heidi Swanson
not to forget the yummy plum cake and the one thing that you can't prevent when cooking...lots and lots of dishes :-)

it's almost weekend for me and we're off to the beach to do some lovely fish BBQ again...wishing you all a wonderful weekend with lots of yummy food!

although it wasn't super natural I've been cooking quite a bit last week:
first I made the kids very happy as I made lots and lots of "Marillenknoedel" (can't come up with an english word for it), basically dumplings with apricots inside, rolled in breadcrumbs.
as almost every day I try to do yoga in the morning I don't take much of a breakfast before but treat me with lots of yummy fruit, yogurt, nuts, maple syrup and coconut flakes later in the day...
finally we also managed to invite a friend of ours over for dinner. his family is not with him at the moment so his life is basically work and take away food in front of the TV.
this time I tried something completely different. as my husband was happy to get the BBQ going I went for salmon and tuna kebabs with cherry tomatoes, mixed fried vegetables and rosemary potatoes.
everything turned out great and it was such a lovely evening that has to be repeated soon...

neck holder top
there is never enough time for all the things I'd like to do and the sewing definitely comes last at the moment.
still, I wanted to do this tops for me and the girls for a looooooong time now. last weekend I had 30min left before we went swimming and I decided to at least start!
turned out this tops don't need much time...cut the square, design the edges, fold one corner, ribbon and a button at the back.
now I started Mias...but I think I measured something wrong...still have to do mine and thinking of having it as a present for some girls around, as I still have lots of fabric.
I am not a professional and I guess will never be, as I am just not patient enough...you could see that in my attempt to do my long planned bag for my yoga mat, but that is another story... and I enjoy doing it and that's all that matters...

here and now
it's June...the kids finish school in about 3 weeks...we'll leave for our summer break in about 5(?) weeks...
I didn't want to leave my husband for too long all alone this summer but things turned out different and I decided to go for a totally different summer break. I decided for something that scares me a little bit and makes me nervous as soon as I start thinking. so I should just stop thinking and live and enjoy my here and now.
there is a lot of our friends leaving in just a few weeks (some already left), special activities for the last days at school, I have the opportunity to help with the end of school production, hanging out at the pool or beach...not bad I'd say. but still the here and now is hard to take in for me right now.
so now, I decided to write this. to make the here and now visible in writing to get me focused on right now. because that's where my family needs me and where there is special moments to take in that I shouldn't let just pass...
here and now I can enjoy a moment of peace and quietness as half the family already left the house and one little girl is still fast asleep. sure, as I let her sleep and take this moment in I am running late for whatever comes after but still...
except the things that need to be organized for summer break I am working on getting my mind into here and now to get the most out of it and enjoy.... I am sure my little girl gives me another 5-10 minutes I can sit down in meditation now...
may your day be filled with love, peace and harmony!
