week-end

following thehabitofbeing, sharing this special time of the week with you!

the week-end spent at the beach. this beautiful spot we are lucky to go to, just for the week-end. good times shared with friends and as a family.
the smells, the whole scenery that reminds me of my childhood and the holidays we spent at the beach. hoping the girls create the same wonderful memories...

if only...
I could go for a swim with you once more
I could sit and feel the sand with you once more
I could sing another tune with you once more
we could share the moment
once more.

recipes

after not being very adventurous in the kitchen lately, I finally tried out some new recipes again. luckily all were a success. that's why, I'd like to share what I found with you!

back into "business" with this delicious Kale Salad out of this book! it was so yummy, there was no time to take a picture. best thing: even my man liked it :-)
oh, I did serve the kale with quinoa and not farro (seems I always have to change something)!

my little girl requested cupcakes for her lunchbox recently. so with some time on my hands I got right into it and started with chocolate, what else!? I found this recipe here (changed to white chocolate chips) and now half the batch is frozen  for the little ladies lunchbox (and to prevent me from eating them all).

as I found some coconut flour earlier this week I just had to try and make something with it as well. and to have more lunchbox options another batch of cupcakes it was. find the super-quick recipe here and no, I did not change anything :-)

then one had to try and rest ;-)

happy cooking/baking everyone!

week-end

oh, it's already too long ago...

lazy, swimming Friday
getting all dressed up for one more "Rugby Desert Dinner" in Cairo
lovely friends, dancing and memories of the good times...

tired Saturday
TV dinner with the girls
an early another late night, to see this

hard to get up for all of us on Sunday, but waking up to "this girls dream come true' made it a little easier

now, second day of this week for me here already, many things to do, but with a possible beach week-end ahead, sure I can do it ;-)

enjoy your week!

getting this feet up and in the air

the days are just too short at the moment. I am staying up too late, trying to lengthen what can't, being tired the next day. writing list after list. starting on this and starting on that.
it seems the whirl inside is about to start...

what I am talking about?

well, we've been moving as a family a bit now, so I know how I react, especially what my body does. I get all "whirled up", want to do everything and nothing - it's the restlessness of still having time in the place you are, but the excitement that wants you to be in your new place already.

today is one of the days where the tiredness mixes with the whirl inside. oh, not a good combination - believe me, not at all :-)
but, finally I am at a stage in my life, that I have some tools and well, sometimes remember to use them!
so, I go on my mat. it took me a while today...too tired in the morning - no way to do an early practice. I was teaching a 10am. I needed to do some admin after, so coffee (as if that helps) and a little snack. not a good idea to practice right after a coffee and snack, so I did some more admin and sorting...ok, 1.45pm - it's now or never.

yes, it helps. it keeps the lists and everything else out. puts things into perspective, calms me down and well usually stays for a while ;-)

and once again, in the past couple of days I found my home in a simple Sivananda class. no need to think, just breath and move. no need to prove anything. this is the days when I don't need to work on challenges, but deepen what's there and enjoy the effects.

over the past weekend we were on a mini-holiday at the sea (no need to say how wonderful that was, right).
you know me by now, I like to do a yoga pose in different locations and you might also have noticed, usually it's a headstand. so, my man usually is the photographer. this time he actually says: "why'd you always do a headstand. can't you do anything else, something more spectacular?"

well, maybe, I don't know - what's spectacular for the one, might not be for the other...and I just love my inversions. and of course, I do want to look good, that's for sure :-)

hey, the headstand is called king of Asanas for a reason! definitely my king. no need to explain how much I like to put my feet in the air and my head on the ground. gives you a change of perspective, releases your feet (even if just for a little time), simply feels good.

here are some of my favourite headstand shots for you, then off you go, do it :-)

my first all alone headstand - Benghazi/Libya

skiing holiday - St. Anton/Austria

evening practice on the terrace - Cairo/Egypt

fun shooting at home - Cairo/Egypt

Wadi Rum/ Jordan

Somabay/Egypt
