little things

the little things, not so little - doing a BIG job :-)

isn't it, mostly, the "little things" that suddenly put a smile on your face, let your heart jump, change your mood and so on.

just yesterday I realised it again. no, I wasn't in a bad mood or anything, but walking along and suddenly looking into a smiling face makes one just feel great. it's when you don't expect, everything get's even "bigger".
sure we know, still we do expect all day long. certain things and behaviour are expected at all times.

I already try, but it's good to be reminded - do something out of the usual, out of the expected once in a while. surprise your kids, your husband, a friend or even a stranger on the street. and don't forget, it's in the little things!

so for today, I will try to be the change to someones day - a non-expected smile.

another thing I am trying for a while and was reminded of reading through this wonderful womans blog - saying YES. especially to the kids.
a yes for my girls makes such a difference. and why not. I am not planning on giving a lot of examples here, because if you sit and read through this, I am sure many come to your mind just like that.
we tend to say no to many things our kids ask or do, and we do have plenty of good reasons for it. but if you take a moment and really think it through, most of the times it could be a YES too, just because...

here is a recent YES-moment from my house...oh yes, the little things (can you feel my smile?)

Friday moment

inspired by SouleMama
I want to continue sharing a special moment from the week with you. but not only a picture but maybe also a few words.
a picture of a moment I wanted to pause and remember, words that describe the moment, the week, the here and now.

my moments of rest, with a cup and a chocolate (in this case) are special to me. it was quite a few in the past days as I tried to save some of the holiday feeling before back into day-to-day and work routine.
did you enjoy any special moment?

a good break

just after New Years we took a break - a 2-week ski holiday, just the 4 of us. a so needed break for all of us. doing something completely different in wonderful nature, something we all love.

it's so nice to see the girls enjoy something so much. hardly any complaints, both loved their skiing instructors and friends they shared the days with.
for the first time we could hit the slopes together and with good luck find something for everyone :-) both girls gained great confidence on their skis and we're back without any broken bones or major injuries - especially grateful for that after seeing the helicopter out quite a few times in the past days.

let me share a few moments with you:

after skiing fun

Clara's favorite "Krapfen"

the morning of the race
