right now I am...
...drinking lots and lots of tea, mainly fresh ginger with cinnamon!
...trying to "take in" as much as I can of my little girl, not believing she will turn 4 in a few days!
...busy preparing a birthday party for the 4 year old princess!
...writing list after list not to forget things!
...teaching quiet and peaceful yoga classes!
...waiting for a free morning or afternoon to start my Christmas baking!
...finishing the "Advent-calendar", and I am happy I decided to have a new handmade design again!
...sitting in the middle of a country that is about to change!
...enjoying early morning meditation to refill my batteries!
...proud of my big girl for several reasons I do not want to mention yet, but surely will talk about here sooner of later!
...glad to have some friends around to distract one on a Saturday afternoon, within these days of unrest in the country!
...more than happy to spend the evening at home and have a family night - just the 4 of us!
...grateful for a wonderful husband who supports me in all this!
...smiling!
...wishing you a wonderful week, with a big smile on your face!

A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

this time of year
oh yes, it's this time of the year where something is happening every day...school meetings, kids parties, grown up parties, christmas shows (to prepare and attend), farewells, preparations, invitations...
not that I don't like it, but sometimes just the look at this over-filled calendar makes me kind of sick.
and that's why I can't do it all and that's why I do need a break in between...
I do enjoy the afternoons we have at home and on purpose don't do more than one playdate a week. this week I want to try to find the time and space to build up the routine of "silence time" for the girls. I would call it meditation for myself (and I try to find this every morning at 6am) and so I'd like to try to bring the girls "down" in between their busy days... I'll tell you more about it after we've tried :-)
today I realized that also the classes I teach are kind of pausing my life. without even noticing, sometimes my days do speed up and all of a sudden I'm again doing it all and if possible at the same time.
so whenever I have to go teach my class I can't do anything else...I try to be there early, turn my phone off, breath, meditate and then get in touch with the people joining the class. finding out how they are that specific day, why they've come and see them starting to let go...
todays class was special. I actually wanted to cancel it in the morning as I am not feeling too well, and yes, I did catch a cold and my body needs to rest. but as I couldn't get hold of anyone else to do the class I went and as always there was this one person that so needed to be introduced to the "magic" of yoga today. a girl looking for somebody to talk to and assuring her that she can find help by starting a yoga practice and she had a smile on her face when she left and I can only hope to see her again and help her find her way.
still, I shouldn't forget about myself, my own practice and stability. as also today I realized how much energy it takes from me when teaching. so I'll rest my body and mind now, keep drinking tea and sleep...
not without sharing a song with you...an artist I almost forgot about but just found again by looking for some nice yoga tracks...enjoy :-)

overcooked Mung Dal
this morning I wanted use morning time to cook my Mung Dal so it is ready when I come back from my shopping trip and I can have a nice lunch...
of course I forgot that the Dal is cooking and it took the girls and me quite a while to get dressed today. so I came back to the kitchen and found a completely overcooked Mung Dal :-)
what can you do? not much. so I left for school, went for a lovely cup of coffee and did manage to get all the shopping from my list done!
feeling great and with still some time left until my little girl was coming home I decided to make this overcooked Dal into a spiced Mung Puree!
here is what I did:
heat up some Ghee and put in:
mustard seeds
fresh ginger (cut small)
fresh green chili (cut small)
asa foetida
tumeric
then I put in the Mung Puree and a little water and toped it up with some fresh coriander
yummy :-)
and did I mention my new kitchen toy yet!? it's a JUICER! I was thinking of buying one for all last year and well, I finally did!
now the kids enjoy their fresh apple juice and also do like the grape juice...I love a glass of fresh carrot-orange juice...
